What happens when a goalie gets hit in the head?
On Thursday, the Capitals took on the Lightning, who were coming off a 2-1 win over the Rangers.
The Capitals’ goalie, Alex Ovechkin, had been battling back from a concussion he suffered against the Islanders.
After taking a hit, Ovechi hit his head on the ice and fell to the ice.
Ovechkins head was visibly swollen and it looked like he might have broken a bone.
The Capitals sent backup goaltender Andre Burakovsky to the bench to replace Ovechnkins.
Burakkos head was also swollen.
Ovechukin was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
Burakovsky did not play in Thursday’s game.
The Capitals have played eight games in the past seven days and have a 5-2 record.
The team has played well in three of those games.
Oskar Sundqvist is the Caps leading goal scorer at five goals.
“It was definitely a scary experience.
We were getting ready to play the Rangers in their arena and then I had to be in the hospital,” said Burakkov.
“That’s when I went into the hospital and it was a real bad experience.”
