Which Football Games Are Cancelled or Stopped in 2019?
With the NFL season underway and the NFL Playoffs on the horizon, the NFL’s governing body has released its 2019 schedule.
Here’s what we know so far:• The league will field a pair of home playoff games in 2019 against the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins, with both games being played in New Orleans.• The NFL will hold its first preseason game in 2020 against the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, with the two teams having been scheduled to play in Indianapolis and Buffalo.• And the 2019 season will see the NFL begin its expansion process with a playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, followed by a regular season game against Oakland Raiders.• It will be the first season since 2011 that the NFL will not field a game against another professional football team, with New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints and New England Jets vs. Miami Dolphins.• After years of contention, the 2019 NFL schedule will mark the first time the league has fielded a game in either the AFC or NFC, with Kansas City Chiefs vs. Atlanta Falcons.
The 2018 schedule is also expected to be cancelled or postponed, with two games being scrapped.
The Chargers-Chiefs game, which had been scheduled for 2019, was canceled because of Hurricane Harvey, and the Raiders-Broncos game, also scheduled for the 2019 slate, was postponed because of the drought in the NFL.
The 2019 schedule is expected to go into effect on October 2.
